I truly hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as you start to get your Christmas plans in order, I must tell you that your favorite big-box retailer Costco will be closed on December 25 this year.
This news shouldn't come as a surprise to any longtime Costco devotee. The stores historically are closed on Christmas every year. In fact, it's just one of the handful of days that Costco closes for annually. The other holidays you can expect closures on are New Year's Day, Easter, the Fourth of July, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving.
If you're one of those people who waits until the very last minute to get everything you need for your dinner, rest assured the holiday will not affect store hours on the days leading up to Christmas. For those who tend to do last-minute food and gift shopping ahead of the holiday, you can count on Costco warehouses to be open on Christmas Eve. It's always a safe bet to call your closest store and see what their hours are because they could potentially vary by location and might be limited due to the holiday—plus, with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there could be fluctuations in your local store's hours regardless.
In the meantime, start dreaming up your ideal holiday menus. Costco's been dropping an insane amount of wintery treats and comfort food like their massive pumpkin pies and the famous Junior's apple crumb cheesecakes to name a few. Consider this your reminder to try not to procrastinate this year and start planning that dinner menu ASAP.
